How long are my files stored?
Your files are automatically deleted from our servers exactly 2 hours after upload. This ensures your privacy and security.
Can I convert multiple files at once?
Yes! You can upload multiple files and convert them to different formats simultaneously. Each conversion runs independently.
What happens if my conversion fails?
If a conversion fails, you'll see an error message with details. Common causes include corrupted files, unsupported format combinations, or network issues. Try again or contact support.
Can I cancel a conversion?
Yes, you can cancel ongoing conversions from the conversion progress panel. The files will be removed immediately.
Quality & Settings4 articles
How do I adjust conversion quality?
When selecting your output format, you'll see quality options (High, Medium, Low). High quality preserves maximum detail but creates larger files.
Is metadata preserved during conversion?
By default, yes. File metadata like creation date, author, and EXIF data is preserved. You can disable this in the conversion options if needed.
Why is my converted file larger/smaller than the original?
File size changes depend on the format and quality settings. Some formats are more compressed than others. High-quality conversions typically result in larger files.
Can I batch convert with the same settings?
Yes! When you upload multiple files, you can apply the same output format and quality settings to all of them at once.
Privacy & Security4 articles
Is my data safe?
Absolutely. Your files are processed in secure, isolated containers and automatically deleted after 2 hours. We never access, analyze, or store your file contents.
Do you track my usage?
We don't track individual usage patterns or create user profiles. We only collect anonymous statistics to improve our service.
Can other users see my files?
No. Each conversion session is completely private and isolated. Your files are never accessible to other users or external services.
What about GDPR compliance?
FormatBit is fully GDPR compliant. We practice data minimization, automatic deletion, and don't collect personal information without consent.
Troubleshooting4 articles
Why is my conversion taking so long?
Large files, complex formats, or high server load can slow conversions. Most files convert in under 30 seconds. If it takes longer than 5 minutes, try refreshing and converting again.
I'm getting a "Format not supported" error
This usually means the specific conversion path isn't available. Try converting to an intermediate format first, or check our supported formats list.
The download isn't working
Check if your browser is blocking downloads, disable ad blockers temporarily, or try a different browser. Ensure you have sufficient disk space.
Why does the page reload during conversion?
This shouldn't happen during normal operation. If it does, your session and conversion progress should be restored automatically.
